Introduction

This unit provides opportunities for students enrolled in the Masters of Applied Science program in the School of Technology, Environments and Design to undertake a series of research activities related to (but not replicating) their dissertation topic. Examples of these research activities include a literature review, a methods essay, or a practical research investigation. The format of the project will be negotiated and documented with the supervisor and approved by the MAppSci course coordinator.

Students enrol in KGG704 Project A followed by KGG705 Project B. The project report is due at the completion of Project B.

Teaching Pattern

Introductory meeting with the unit/course coordinator and subsequent meetings with the project supervisor.

Assessment

Project proposal (500 words, ungraded); The project report will be equivalent to 10,000 words in total (after completing KGG705 project B), and will be marked by the student's thesis supervisor and a second independent marker within the School. An intermediate progress report for KGG704 Project A is due in the last week of semester and is comprised of ~4,000 words. Formative feedback will be provided by the supervisor.
