Introduction

Organizations around the world are increasingly using commercial packages instead of custom built software to support their core business processes. In this unit students explore enterprise architecture with a focus on business process integration and process standardization. Students examine major Enterprise Systems (ES) such as Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Supply Chain Management (SCM) and Business Intelligence (BI) systems with discussions on their benefits and implementation challenges. Students also explore alternative approaches to adopting enterprise systems including Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) or Cloud Computing. Students will understand the advantages and limitations of enterprise systems and how best to implement them.
