Plant Pathology KLA346
Introduction
The focus of this unit is on advanced topics of plant disease biology and management. Concepts will be illustrated with diseases caused by viral and virus-like agents, phytopathogenic bacteria and fungi in agricultural and horticultural systems. Topics include infection biology, host resistance, disease transmission, disease epidemiology and detection of pathogens. Practical sessions are project-based including group work and one field trip.

- Outline how plant disease results from epidemiological variables, for selected fungal, bacterial and viral pathogens
- Explain plant disease assessment and management strategies in agriculture and horticultural systems
- Describe the types of plant-pathogen interactions and consequences for plant disease outcomes
- Demonstrate advanced practical skills in selected topics of plant pathology and communicate scientific information
