Introduction
Introduces Master of Applied Science students to the most dominant life forms on earth via the disciplines of entomology and plant pathology. It explores the classification, diversity, structure, function and general biology of insects and examines the concepts of plant disease and diagnostic procedures for plant pathogens (including fungi, bacteria, viruses, nematodes). A collection of insects is a required component of the unit.
Students will also be expected to complete additional tests/assignments/tutorials in selected research areas to enhance their depth of understanding of these areas.
In addition to general course content, students are expected to undertake prescribed reading at an advanced level and to incorporate this knowledge in their theory examination.
