Leadership, People and Culture KLA502

Introduction

In this unit, you will be introduced to key concepts relating to employing and managing labour in Australia. You will learn of key management principles and techniques applicable to recruitment, employment, performance management, and change management for your business. In addition, you will also develop an understanding of employment laws and regulations affecting employment conditions of a business’s labour force.
This unit employs a ‘learning through practice’ experience placing practical knowledge with academic insights at the centre of your learning and assessment. This experience will reinforce the development of the skills, knowledge, and behaviours necessary to respond to personal, industry and community needs.

This unit’s content will introduce you to:

1. Managing as a leader
2. Factors affecting labour productivity
3. Tools, techniques, and approaches to best management practice
4. Principles and perspectives of values, ethics, empathy, and leadership in real world scenarios.
5. Ways of understanding challenges of managing personnel and the development of solutions through active inquiry, conflict resolution and change management.
6. Employment law: Fair Work Act 2009 and the Fair Work Commission, Enterprise Bargaining Agreements, and modern awards.

In conjunction with the discipline theory, this unit fosters learning through practice and its application to specific business settings. The content of this unit and other units undertaken in this course will support the development of a personal and business portfolio
