Dairy Business Management KLA509
Introduction
This unit explores business strategy, management, and leadership concepts in the context of controlling managing a dairy business. You will examine approaches to developing a growth plan for your business while also acquiring personal skills that will allow you to grow alongside it. You will do this by learning central concepts needed to holistically manage the human, physical and financial resources of your business, including those needed to analyse your businesses current position, those needed to develop and implement a plan for growth, and tools useful for making effective decisions consistent with the business’ risk profile. The unit’s content will provide an overview of your industry and introduce foundational concepts related to:
1. Approaches to strategy, purpose, and planning for your personal and business growth (or consolidation).
2. Assessment and analysis of your businesses current profile and position.
3. Risk profiles.
4. Decision making tools.
In this Unit we will introduce the course structure and explain how the discipline content and associated assessment tasks integrate to enable you to compile a holistic personal and business plan, which is the final assessment and capstone experience of the course.
In conjunction with the discipline theory, this unit fosters learning through practice and its application to specific business settings. The content of this unit and other units undertaken in this course will support the development of a personal and business portfolio.
