Introduction
In this unit you will gain an understanding of the differences between supply and value chain concepts, and the role of your dairy business in a dairy supply chain.
You will learn about the key drivers of the supply chain, including production, inventory, location, transportation, and information, and how you can optimise these to your business’ advantage.
You will develop an understanding of the key factors influencing global supply and demand of dairy products, and how this influences domestic milk pricing structures.
In this unit, you will gain an understanding of:
1. The differences between ‘value’ and ‘supply’ chain concepts.
2. Milk pricing structures
3. The key drivers of a supply chain
4. Factors influencing the global and domestic milk markets
5. Growing your competitive advantage
In conjunction with the discipline theory, this unit fosters learning through practice and its application to specific business settings. The content of this unit and other units undertaken in this course will support the development of a personal and business portfolio.
