This unit is classed as a restricted unit and available to Master of Applied Science students.
Introduction
Provides Master of Applied Science students with an overview of insect ecology and examines insect mating systems, insect-plant interactions and insect natural enemies. It explores the application of this theory to pest management and may briefly overview specialist areas such as toxicology and forensic entomology.
Students will also be expected to complete additional assignments/tutorials in selected research areas to enhance their depth of understanding if these areas.
In addition to general course content, students are expected to undertake prescribed reading at an advanced level on recent developments in entomology and to incorporate this knowledge in their theory examination.
