Note:

This unit is only available to students enrolled in Graduate Certificate of Research (X5A).

Introduction

Obtaining project funding is critical for a successful career in research. In this unit, postgraduate research  students will gain an insight into the research funding environment in Australia. The unit will offer students the essential skills needed to develop a funding application in an important area of research.

Different types of grants (including fellowships and research project schemes offered by government and industry) will be discussed and the process of preparing an application will be practiced in several steps. Skills will be developed in identifying relevant research topics, appropriate funding bodies and developing project budgets. The major assessment will allow those skills to be practiced through development of a research proposal.
