Master of Applied Science Project (Part A) KLA709
Introduction
In this unit students will, with assistance and supervision, develop skills associated with obtaining research funding. Students will develop a research proposal for a small project, such as would be submitted to a research agency. Skills will be developed in identifying relevant research topics, appropriate funding bodies and developing project budgets. The proposal will including background to the proposed research, aims and objectives, experimental methods and justification for their selection, expected outcomes and benefits, resources required and their cost, timelines, and how the results will be communicated.

- Interpret different research types and explain how research is relevant to agriculture and microbiology
- Critically evaluate literature relevant to an area of scientific research to formulate and justify a research gap
- Design research questions and generate a plan of research activity, including justification based on potential research outcomes and benefits
- Communicating a project proposal on an individual topic
