Structural Mechanics KNE312



Columns and beam-columns. States of plane stress and strain, strain measurements. Miscellaneous problems of Mechanics of Materials: thick cylinders, combined stresses and yield criteria for metals, unsymmetrical bending, bending of curved elements (beams). Energy Methods: Real work, strain energy and complementary energy, virtual work, energy theorems. Calculation of elastic deflections in bar structures. Elastic analyses of plane, statically indeterminate structures: Force Method, Slope Deflection Method, Moment Distribution Method. Beams on elastic foundations. Plastic analysis of bar structures.
