Spatial Data and Analysis for Marine and Antarctic Science KSM103
Hobart, Launceston
Introduction
This unit provides an introduction to the processing, visualization, analysis and interpretation of spatial marine and Antarctic datasets and the programming tools needed to work with them. This unit will focus on marine specific spatial data using widely used programming and data analysis packages MATLAB and R. It is a hands-on, skills -oriented unit with weekly practical/tutorial exercises supplemented with explanatory lectures. This unit addresses specific challenges when working with Marine and Antarctic/Southern Ocean data sources from the Integrated Marine Observing Systems and includes data from remote sensing (temperature and chlorophyll, ocean currents), floats and moored instrument arrays, autonomous underwater vehicles, and phytoplankton records.
