Introduction to Quantitative Marine Science QMS510

Start and finish dates may change subject to staff availability, refer to the QMS website for further details. http://www.imas.utas.edu.au/qms/qms-unit-information.

QMS units are designed for postgraduate students with a strong background in quantitative analysis, mathematics, physics and chemistry.

Introduction

The purpose of this unit is to give new graduate students an introduction to the QMS program and to bring all students up to a basic level of specialized computing skill. This self-paced unit provides basic skills in the use and application of a widely used programming language, Python, especially related to marine and Antarctic problems. Additional online resources are also provided for R, a well-known statistics package, as well as the MATLAB programming language.
