Foundation Studies program is a direct academic pathway to first-year undergraduate degree study, or equivalent. The program acts as a bridging course for international students who wish to study a university undergraduate degree course but don’t yet meet academic requirements and/or English language skills for tertiary study.

Successful completion of this program gives direct entry to many undergraduate degree courses, subject to meeting appropriate exit requirements. Please note that entry to all programs is conditional upon final Foundation results.

Please note, meeting the minimum GPA required for Medicine, Pharmacy and Nursing does not guarantee entry, due to limited availability of places.

The University of Tasmania's Foundation Studies Program is an innovative and challenging two-semester course which equips students with the knowledge and skills necessary for academic success at the tertiary level. The program is a 'Standard Foundation' as approved by Australian government legislation. This is an excellent opportunity for international students seeking an alternative pathway into undergraduate degrees.

The University of Tasmania Foundation Program focuses on skills students need to succeed in degree courses.
