The Creative Innovators’ Program gives you a world-class architecture and design education including hands-on project and research experience, genuine work experience, and an enriching overseas study exchange.

The Creative Innovators’ Program is built around the Bachelor of Architecture and Built Environments, which is a pre-professional course designed to ensure our graduates have the competencies necessary to gain admission to the Master of Architecture, and equivalent courses in design fields addressing the built environment.

Core units within the program will develop creativity and innovative thinking, and provide a grounding in sustainable and ethical practice. Electives choices will enable you to design your portfolio and skill set, allowing entry into careers and pathways in your field of interest.

The program is also focussed on delivering genuine practical experience, with options for field trips, research projects, industry engagement, work integrated learning, and international study opportunities included core components of your studies.

  • 1 Demonstrate social and environmental responsibility by critically relating the ethical, legal and political implications of design in the built environment.
  • 2 Engage expert and non-expert audiences in imagining, visualising, and realising spatial design propositions.
  • 3 Contextualise and apply the knowledge, skills and practices of the spatial and built environment in relation to people, cultures, environments and technologies.
  • 4 Propose and test speculative built environment futures for abstract, real or virtual contexts through iterative methods of visualisation, fabrication and critique.
  • 5 Formulate and justify positions on complex issues in the design of the built environment by drawing on a breadth and depth of disciplinary knowledge and methods of inquiry.
  • When you study with us, your multi-disciplinary theory and history education provides a foundation for a wealth of practice based and applied learning experiences.

“One of the greatest things about studying at the University of Tasmania is that they have a really strong learning-by-making program. You learn a lot about the technical aspects. I didn’t realise how good that was until I got this job. It was such an asset to be able to get going on day one.”

    Christine Green, graduate

The Creative Innovators’ Program offers outstanding career advantages, giving you an edge over your peers and giving you skills, knowledge and experiences to shine in your future career.
