Building inclusive spaces
The development application for the North-West Coast's new University of Tasmania campus was approved by Burnie City Council in April 2019.
The project aims to bring new ways of learning and teaching to the city and region, focused around contributing to the community and its future. There will be new courses on offer in addition to the existing courses currently available.
The new building design features include:
- A central courtyard
- Contemporary facilities
- An environmentally-sustainable green roof
- A bike storage facility which includes charging stations for e-bikes, a bike repair station and water refill station
- Café and library
- Spaces for public activities
- Use of Tasmanian timbers and locally sourced materials.
