Jade is an award-winning contemporary dance artist, choreographer and creative collaborator currently based in Yamba, Northern Rivers NSW. Jade was awarded a Masters of Choreography from the Victorian College of the Arts in 2009, since then she has danced in Iceland, France and Spain with support from Victoria University and the Ian Potter Cultural Trust. Her original choreography and performance have been presented by Melbourne International Arts Festival, Performance Space, Opera House Studio, World Dance Alliance, VCA School of Dance, Lucy Guerin Inc, St Kilda Theatre Works, Newport Substation, Melbourne Arts Centre, Multicultural Arts Victoria and Kultour.

Jade’s current work OPAL VAPOUR, presented by the Salamanca Arts Centre, is a mesmerising new dance performance that seamlessly integrates dynamic contemporary choreography with haunting live voice and instrumentals, lighting elements, shadow play and live-feed camera projection. In creating this work, the artists have drawn on Jade and Ria’s Australian/Javanese ancestry and have been inspired by the symbolism, dramatic structure and ritual elements of Javanese Wayang Kulit (shadow puppet theatre) – a rich and dynamic artform that is continually evolving and adapting. The work explores deep connections between human origins and nature, ceremonial cleansing for purification, rites of passage and embodiment in performance. In the Art Forum presentation Jade and the creative team, will address the influence of Wayang Kulit symbolism and structure within the Opal Vapour creative process.
