Kathy Temin is a Professor at MADA, Monash University Melbourne. Her work has featured in numerous local, national and international projects since 1990. Temin creates sculptures and installations using unconventional and soft materials, predominantly synthetic fur. Her work is influenced by Minimalism, monochrome, 70s interior design, popular culture, suburbia, remembrance and family history.

In 2016, Kathy Temin will complete The Koala Room for The Bella commission at the Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA), Sydney and The Memorial Project: Black Seat for Anna Schwartz Gallery. In 2015 she was commissioned for The Melbourne Art Trams Project as part of the Melbourne Festival. The Memorial Project was made during the Elam School of Arts International residency for the Gus Fisher Gallery, Auckland. Her work was included in Solid State, Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre, Sydney, Neverwhere, Gaia Gallery, Istanbul, Turkey (2015); Pet Cemetery, Anna Schwartz Gallery, Melbourne, Drawing Now, Melbourne Now, NGV, Melbourne (2014); Australia, The Royal Academy, London; Less is More, Minimal and Post Minimal Art in Australia, Heide Museum of Modern Art, Melbourne (2012); My Monument: Black Garden, The Art Gallery of New South Wales (2011); MyLandscape, Hamish McKay Gallery, Wellington (2010); Kathy Temin, Heide Museum of Modern Art, Melbourne, My Monument: Black Cube, Anna Schwartz Gallery, Melbourne; Soft Sculpture, National Gallery of Australia, Canberra (2009); Contemporary Australia: Optimism, Gallery of Modern Art, Queensland Art Gallery, Brisbane, and in Open Plan Living: ART TLV, Helena Rubenstein Pavilion, Israel (2008).

In her Art Forum presentation Kathy will discuss her work, reflecting on identity through private activities and public projects, social architecture, family history, cultural icons and the audition process.
