Samara Adamson-Pinczewski is a visual artist who lives and works in Melbourne, Australia.

Samara has undertaken residencies in Europe, the USA and Asia. In 2016, Samara undertook the Art Gallery of New South Wales' Moya Dyring Studio Residency at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris, France. And in 2013, Samara was the recipient of the Sam & Adele Golden Foundation for the Arts Residency Program in New Berlin, New York, USA.  Samara’s practice centres on the relationship between geometric abstract painting, architecture and urban space. Her current focus is to use fragmented architectonic motifs and oblique linear structures to create ambiguous spatial readings, including the illusion of fracture, sudden movement and turbulence. Through meticulously combining colour, line and form, her goal is to create highly unsettling paintings that are designed to elicit a perceptual and physiological response from the viewer.

Samara Adamson-Pinczewski is represented by Charles Nodrum Gallery, Melbourne.

In her Art Forum presentation, Samara will discuss her practice, in particular ideas concerning reflection and spatial deformation in contemporary abstract painting practice. She will outline her research interests and examine howrecent works have been designed to engage and modulate the viewer’s perception of illusory space.

Samara Adamson-Pinczewski is exhibiting work in Beyond the Field (still) curated by Anne Mestitz.

This exhibition is presented by Contemporary Art Tasmania and Moonah Arts Centre.
