Ageing as material

Wendy Morrow is a solo dance artist, performance maker and collaborator.

Morrow comes from a family of dancers. A graduate from the Australian Ballet School she was a dancer with the Monte Carlo Ballet, the Scottish Ballet, the Sydney Dance Company and an original member of Danceworks (Melbourne). She has worked with Australia's most influential new dance makers, studied and worked internationally with professional dance companies, independent artists and taught at most tertiary arts institutions around Australia. She has tertiary qualifications in both Dance and Visual Arts (Sculpture) and has received numerous state and federal grants including a two-year Australia Council Dance Fellowship. Morrow has a longstanding collaborative partnership with media/sound artist Leigh Hobba. Their most recent work, Geologies was a contemporary performance with dancer, string quartet and print-based light installation. In March Wendy's fictionella Fossil was published as part of The Lost Rocks Project.

Wendy will present a performance talk on her recent work on embracing ageing as material for writing, moving and making.

Arts Forum is a weekly series of free public lectures held at the School of Creative Arts and Media, Hunter Street Campus, during the semester. The series provides a unique opportunity to hear local, national and international visiting artists, scholars and presenters from diverse sectors of the Creative Arts discuss their area of professional practice. All current students, prospective students, and members of the public are welcome.
