The Academy Gallery is delighted to partner with Wesfarmers Arts to present Luminous World: Contemporary Art from the Wesfarmers Collection. The Wesfarmers Collection is one of the most prestigious corporate collections of Australian art and reflects the vision of successive Managing Directors in developing and supporting such a major artistic resource. This is a unique opportunity for visitors to the Academy Gallery and Launceston to view an innovative thematic selection of more than 60 contemporary works from the Wesfarmers Collection. Some 50 artists are featured in the exhibition including: Susan Norrie, Howard Taylor, Dale Frank, Paddy Bedford, Bill Henson, Brian Blanchflower, Brook Andrew, Timothy Cook, Barupu Yunupingu and Tasmanian College of the Arts photography lecturer Dr David Stephenson.

The exhibition has previously been exhibited at the Art Gallery of Western Australia, the Charles Darwin University Museum of Art, Darwin, and following from the Academy Gallery will tour to the Samstag Museum of Art, Adelaide and the Ian Potter Museum of Art, The University of Melbourne.

Luminous World: Contemporary Art from the Wesfarmers Collection is presented as part of the Academy Gallery Mini Blockbuster (MB) series. The MB Series aims to promote and educate the contemporary arts as accessible cultural enjoyment.
