Launceston: Our City will showcase the brilliance of living in Australia’s most family friendly city. The exhibition aim will be to display what is good, occasionally quirky and definitely magical about living in Launceston.  Launceston's reputation as a fantastic place to live, work and play has been recognised in the inaugural 2013 Suncorp Bank Family Friendly City report, with Launceston being named the most family friendly city in Australia. The study, which examined the family friendliness of Australia's 30 largest cities across 10 key indicators. The key indicators used to obtain the ranking included crime levels, health care, education, housing, unemployment, income, child care services, connectivity and community.

Launceston: Our CityAcademy Gallery Director Dr. Malcom Bywaters has been invited to curate the exhibition as part of TasTAFE’s Creative Industries Professional Partnerships Programme. The Tasmanian College of the Arts has a Memorandum of Understanding with the TasTAFE to use the Academy Gallery for five weeks a year. The use of the Academy Gallery by the TasTAFE is part of an agreed policy in the cross sector spirit of resource sharing and professional goodwill between the Tasmanian College of the Arts and TasTAFE – Tasmania.
