The Birchalls Tertiary Art Prize is for 2D works, and is an initiative of A W Birchall & Sons Pty Ltd and the NEW Gallery at the University of Tasmania. It aims to encourage those starting to find their artistic voice by providing an opportunity for participation in a professionally run art prize. All entries are judged according to the following criteria: (1) originality of artistic expression; (2) creative use of the chosen medium. The exhibition is a must see for all those interested in what is creatively happening or being produced within the Tasmanian emerging art sector.
The winner of the Birchalls Tertiary Art Prize will be announced at the NEW Gallery on Friday 5 September.
