Beyond the Classroom will showcase the artwork created by art teaching staff from the Tasmanian primary, secondary, college and TasTAFE education sectors. The majority of these teaching staff are University of Tasmania alumni, and this will be acknowledged in the exhibition. The aim of Beyond the Classroom: Artwork by Teachers is to invite teaching staff to return "back to" the University, in the process showing their artwork to the wider community and the students they are now teaching. Beyond the Classroom is presented as part of the University of Tasmania 125th year anniversary celebration.

Beyond the Classroom: Artwork by Teachers is presented in partnership with the Tasmanian Art Teachers Association (TATA) and the University of Tasmania Academy Gallery, Launceston and Makers Workshop Space, Burnie.
