Launceston's Camerata Obscura are finally stepping out of the darkness, after a year's hiatus, to perform a concert at the University Academy Gallery, Inveresk. The Camerata Obscura string ensemble was founded by Philip Smith in 2011 and its members hail from different parts of Australia, New Zealand and beyond. Previous performances have included a variety of works from Saint Saens' Carnival of the Animals, Vivaldi's Four Seasons, to a premier performance of local composer, Conor O'Brien's, Suite for Strings. They are excited to be performing with the University of Tasmania's Conservatorium of Music Head of Strings, Dr Sue Collins, to perform a program of short works by Bartok, Barber, Kreisler, Mozart and Marcello.
