Our home investigates the domestic space as a physical and psychological refuge. The house has become a place to hide and a space to create an external identity. Within contemporary Australia the spaces between the private and public are consciously blurred. The exhibition explores themes of personal space, home life, security and family. The house embodies the core of the traditional unit of the democratic state. In many ways the house can be described as the great stabilizer of community. A haven where one can forget the day to day of working life, enjoy the privacy of self, the company of a partner or laughter and sadness of family. Our home will question the house as a symbol of government stability and individual identity.
Presented as a Pop - Up Exhibition in partnership with Art Education Australia (AEA) as part of the Academy Gallery School Engagement Program.
