Arts Forum - Lynn Mowson

*This event has been cancelled*

Dr Lynn Mowson is a sculptor whose practice is driven by the entangled relationships between human and non-human animals, in particular agricultural animals. Her sculptural research was featured the book The Art of the Animal, Lantern Press, 2015, and the exhibition SPOM: Sexual Politics of Meat at The Animal Museum, LA, in 2017. Her work has been included in the Minding Animals Exhibition forthcoming at the Museo de la Cancilleria, Mexico in 2018.

As well as discussing her art practice, Lynn will be talking about her diverse pathway through the arts including: setting up an Artist Run Initiative in the mid-90s in Sydney, and her most challenging role as Project Manager for MDM Props - a company that provides production and installation services for leading artists in the UK, which included working on Miroslaw Balka’s Black Box at the Turbine Hall, TATE Modern, Yinka Sonibare’s Nelson’s Ship in a Bottle for the 4th Plinth Project as well as many more small and large projects for artists such as Anish Kapoor, The Chapman Brothers and Marc Quinn.

Arts Forum is a weekly series of free public lectures held at the School of Creative Arts, Hunter Street Campus, during the semester. The series provides a unique opportunity to hear local, national and international visiting artists, scholars and presenters from diverse sectors of the Creative Arts discuss their area of professional practice. All current students, prospective students, and members of the public are welcome.
