The Jeju International Exchange

In 2018 Penny Burnett and Megan Walch undertook residencies at the Jeju Foundation in Korea. The residency enables artists from Korea and Tasmania to embed themselves in each other’s community, linking the arts, education, community and understanding through small-scale, personal interaction. These exchanges provide a framework for artists to act as cultural ambassadors, using the arts as a catalyst for cultural exchanges, building greater awareness and understanding between Australia and Korea.

The Tasmanian Government has a sister state relationship between Jeju and Tasmania, and this artist residency exchange will build upon those existing government-to-government connections and potential collaborations in the future.

The Jeju International Exchange, Jeju Foundation for the Arts and culture, South Korea , was assisted through Arts Tasmania by the Minister for the Arts, the Australian Government, the Australia-Korea Foundation, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and the College of Arts, Law and Education

Arts Forum is a weekly series of free public lectures held at the School of Creative Arts and Media, Hunter Street Campus, during the semester. The series provides a unique opportunity to hear local, national and international visiting artists, scholars and presenters from diverse sectors of the Creative Arts discuss their area of professional practice. All current students, prospective students, and members of the public are welcome.
