Calendula (Asteraceae) 2:372

Calendula_arvensis

C. officinalis

C. officinalis (individual fruit)

Two species of Marigold (Calendula) have become naturalised widely. They mainly differ in size: Garden Marigold (C. officinalis) has larger flower heads (2-5 cm wide) than Wild Marigold (C. arvensis - 1-2 cm).

The fruiting stage of Calendula is distinctive - the outer fruit in the head are crescent shaped and relatively large.
