Chrysocephalum baxteri

C. apiculatum

C. apiculatum

Chrysocephalum contains those former species of Helichrysum that have heads with conspicuous phyllaries that have frilled margins. Tasmania has three native species. C. apiculatum has woolly white leaves and heads about 10-15mm wide. C. semipapposum has leaves that are green on the upper surface and heads only about 3-7mm wide. Both are common, more-or-less erect herbs of dry places through most of Tasmania. C. baxteri is an uncommon herb mostly found near the coast in the Furneaux Group.
