Tasmania has
one native species of Coronidium. C. scorpioides is an erect
or spreading herb of open forests or alpine areas. This species has
golden flower heads on erect stalks, at the ends of erect or
spreading, white-hairy stems.
This species includes an erect, mostly lowland form (formerly known as
Helichrysum scorpioides) and a spreading upland form
(formerly known as Helichrysum rutidolepis). These species were formerly in the genus Helichrysum
as described in the Student's Flora, along with
Ozothamnus, Argentipallium,
Xerochrysum, Chrysocephalum,
Helichrysum.
