Euchiton & Argyrotegium (formerly known as part of Gnaphalium; Asteraceae) 2:316

A. mackayi

E.  involucratus

Most of the species described in the Students Flora as Gnaphalium are now included in the genera, Euchiton and Argyrotegium. Tasmania now has six native species of Euchiton and five of ArgyrotegiumArgyrotegium differs from Euchiton in not having stolons, and having the bases of the leaves forming long sheaths around the stems (these are short in Euchiton). Argyrotegium species are all woolly hairy alpine or subalpine mat forming herbs. In contrast, Euchiton species range from alpine mat forming herbs to erect lowland species in open forests, grasslands or coastal areas. They have woolly stems, and the leaves are woolly hairy on the undersurface, but may be green or woolly on the upper surface.
