Hairy phyllaries

 

Leaves linear, with appressed hairs. Phyllaries with blunt tips, and not extending down the stems. Common species.

Leaves elliptical or somewhat widest above the midpoint, with spreading hairs. Phyllaries with pointed tips, with a few on the stem below the flower head. Rare species.
L. elongatus
