Echium vulgare (Viper's Bugloss) is a reasonably common weed in Tasmania. It is an erect or spreading herb with conspicuous blue flowers. It differs from its more common relative (E. plantagineum) by having smaller flowers and leaves with bases that taper to the stem (instead of broad bases that clasp the stem).
