The
Caryophyllaceae is a large family, with moderate number of herbaceous
species in Tasmania. These include both native and introduced species,
and although sometimes inconspicuous, grow in a very wide range of
habitats, from saltmarshes (e.g. Spergularia), to wet or dry
forests, to alpine areas. One species of Scleranthus and a
couple of species of Colobanthus are native cushion plants
with small, inconspicuous flowers. |
