Calystegia soldanella

C. silvatica

Tasmania has three native and one introduced species of Calystegia (Great Bindweed). C. sepium  (native) and  C. silvatica (introduced) are large twining plants with large flowers. C. soldanella is a native prostrate coastal plant with slightly smaller flowers (although still usually larger than those of the Convolvulus species). C. marginata (Forest Bindweed) is a very rare species in Tasmania - only known locally on Cape Barren Island.
