Wilsonia (Convolvulaceae) 3:499 |
|
|
Tasmania
has three species of Wilsonia. These are all low growing
(often prostrate) plants of saltmarshes. They have conspicuous
flowers and small succulent leaves that are more or less distichous
(i.e. arranged in two rows along the stem). The three species are
readily distinguished by their foliage - W. rotundifolia has
small (up to 4mm long) dark green leaves that are round or nearly
so; W. humilis has silky hairy leaves strongly pressed
together in two rows; and the most common species, W. backhousei,
has narrow green leaves about 5-15 mm long. |
