ELAEOCARPACEAE
I:90
The
Elaeocarpaceae are a family of trees and shrubs mostly found
in rainforests. The two Tasmanian species are Aristotelia peduncularis,
a straggling understorey shrub of widespread in wet forests, and Elaeocarpus
reticulatis, a small wet forest tree only occurring in Tasmania
on King and Flinders Islands. Both have conspicuous fleshy fruit and
flowers with lobed petals.
It is likely that this family will be expanded to include
Tremandraceae.
