| Nothofagus
gunnii (The Fagus) is Tasmania's only winter deciduous
species. It is a major component of subalpine rainforest and
alpine conifer heath. It has small (generally <2 cm long), light
green, alternate leaves. The veins lead to the gaps between the
round teeth, and the leaf lamina bulges up between the major
veins.
