The
Tasmanian species of Haloragaceae fall into two very distinct groups.
Haloragis and Gonocarpus (raspworts) are native terrestrial herbs,
mostly scabrous, giving them a distinctive sandpaper feel.
The genus Myriophyllum contains several aquatic species, and
the genera Haloragis and Gonocarpus contain smallish,
erect terrestrial species. All species have small, inconspicuous flowers
and fruit. Most species are native, but one species of Myriophyllum
is naturalised. |
