Phaeoceros (Anthocerotaceae)

Phaeoceros is a hornwort genus with one representative in Tasmania, P. carolinianus.

P. carolinianus is possibly one of the most common hornworts in Tasmania and may be found in built up areas or greenhouse where moisture readily available. It has only one chloroplast per cell and the spores are characteristically yellow.
