Nothogynomitrion is a genus of minute leafy liverworts of which
Tasmania has a single species, N. erosum.
N. erosum is a common and minute rock-dwelling liverwort of high
altitudes. The shoots are whitish green but can be tainted red in
exposed conditions. The leaves are tightly and closely overlapping
on the prostrate or erect shoots.
When seen under a light microscope, the leaf margins appear
toothed due to the unevenly projecting cell walls of the marginal
cells.
