Cololejeunea is a genus of minute leafy liverworts. In
Tasmania, the genus is represented by a single species, C.
laevigata. This species is an obligate epiphyll (found growing
only on the leaves of plants) and can be distinguished from all
other Lejeuneaceae species by the lack of underleaves.
C. laevigata may in some instances be mistaken for smaller
species of Radula but the obligate epiphyllous habit and the
nature of the ventral lobules (presence of a tooth on each lobule)
of the former species should sufficiently distinguish it.
