Diplasiolejeunea is represented by a single species, D.
plicatiloba in Tasmania. This species occurs epiphytically in
wet forest to rainforest and often grows among other bryophytes.
The convex (as viewed from above) and almost round shape of the
leaves often sufficiently distinguishes this liverwort.
Metalejeunea cucullata is superficially similar but is a
smaller species, has one underleaf per pair of lateral leaves, and
the leaf insertion to the stem is wider (i,e attached with more
cells).
