Lepidozia is a large genus leafy liverworts with about 17
species in
Tasmania.
Lepidozia species
are common elements in wet forest and rainforest and occupy a
variety of substrates. The shoots of Lepidozia spp. often
pinnate to bipinnate and dorso-ventrally flattened. The tips of the
side branches are in many cases extended or reduced to flagella. The
stem leaves are usually asymmetrical or nearly so and are closely
spaced on the main stems in most species. The underleaves
are usually much smaller, (sometimes almost vestigial) and more
symmetrical than the stem leaves.
