Modiola
caroliniana (Creeping Mallow or Crimson Mallow) is the only species of this genus, and has become
introduced in Tasmania from South America. It is common in lawns, on
footpaths and in waste ground, especially in dry places. It is a
creeping plant that roots at the nodes, and has red flowers. The
flowers and leaves are smaller than those of most species of
Malva. |
