Leptoscyphus (Lophocoleaceae)

Leptoscyphus is a genus of leafy liverworts with 4 species documented for Tasmania. As a genus, Leptoscyphus is easy to distinguish from other Lophocoleaceae by the nature of their underleaves. Leptoscypus has very small bifid underleaves (sometimes narrower than the width of the stem) which often contains a smaller tooth on each side. Species are not easy to determine and the genus is in need for revision.

Leptoscyphus are commmonly epiphytic on rainforest or wet forest trees but may also occur on logs.
