The Aulacomniaceae in
Tasmania is represented by a single species, Aulacomnion palustre.
A. palustre is uncommon plant of upland bogs. The erect
shoots are yellowish green and the stems are enveloped by brown
tomentum for most of its length. The leaves have nerves which end
just below the apex. Microscopically, the cells each bear a single
large papillae.
The genus
Leptotheca was previously placed under this family.
