Pseudoscleropodium (Brachytheciaceae)

In Tasmania, Pseudoscleropodium is represented by a single weedy species, P. purum.

P. purum is an introduced species which grows in shaded grassy spots under trees in parks in urban areas and has spread to walking tracks in natural areas.

Scleropodium asutrale is similar but possibly much rarer. Also, the shoots of this species curl when dry, a feature not observed in P. purum.
