In Tasmania, Sclerodontium is represented by a single
species, S. pallidum ssp. pallidum. This species was
previously called Dicnemoloma pallidum. S. pallidum
is a mat or clump forming moss of rock outcrops. The shoots are
greyish-green to yellow-green. The leaves are undulate and inrolled
towards the center, thereby exposing the golden-brown nerve on the
leaf underside. The nerve extends beyond the apex into a hyaline
hairpoint.
